acción en primera persona (FPS) . Creado por VALVe Software el
27 de mayo de
1997 , y distribuido por Sierra Entertainment el
20 de noviembre de
1998 ; ese retraso fue debido a adaptaciones en los
hardware de la época y a varios ciclos de actualización del motor
Quake creado por Id Software. Con lo cual, Half-Life se vio beneficiado en el aspecto gráfico.
Los Creadores de VALVe software formaban parte del equipo de Microsoft, donde ayudaron to create Windows NT / and OS / 2 etc. Maybe that's why at first the game was released for personal computers using the operating system
Microsoft Windows , but later was released for the console
Sony PlayStation 2 . The console version
Sega Dreamcast did not become officially released, but later leaked online nearly final version.
Half Life, or commonly called was not very successful HL shortly after leaving, but then, being hailed by critics for the game's plot, by the sophistication of Artificial Intelligence
(IA) and thanks to its long duration, became a super sales, proclaiming game of the year by over 50 publications which made him the "Best Game of the XX Century", while becoming a saga worship for thousands of fans to
FPS. Its success would continue due to expansions: Half-Life: Opposing Force
(OF), Half-Life: Blue Shift
(BS), both named game of the year in 1999 and 2001, changes to the popular multiplayer
Counter-Strike (CS),
Team Fortress Classic (TFC), Day of Defeat
(DOD) and its sequel, Half-Life 2
(HL2) and expansion of the same
Half-Life 2: Episode One (HL2 Ep1) and Half-Life 2: Episode Two (HL2 Ep2).
